Dr. Lambert Ayuk-Takem graduated with Honors from The University of Maryland Eastern Shore in 1997. Following his graduation, he moved to Florida where he obtained his masters (2001) and Ph.D (2011) from Florida A & M University (FAMU) in Tallahassee, Florida.
Dr. Ayuk-Takem joined the faculty in the Department of Chemistry at FAMU where he lectured up until 2014. He also served as an adjunct faculty with the Division of Natural Sciences at Tallahassee Community College, Tallahassee Florida. As a graduate student, Dr. Ayuk-Takem studied S-Adenosyl – L- Methionine (SAM) Induced Parkinson’s Disease-like Symptoms: Mechanism of Inhibition by Farnesyl Cysteine Analogs and Polyisoprenylation Pathway-Dependent Toxicity Mechanism for Flavors and Fragrances.
Dr. Ayuk-Takem also participated in other research projects with the US Department of Agriculture. These projects included the synthesis and study of several novel alkenol analogs of 1-octen-3-ol, evaluation of several novel alkynols and alkenols and selected host odor blends as attractants to adult female Aedes albopictus and Culex quinquefasciatus mosquito. Dr. Ayuk-Takem’s research has led to several publications in peer reviewed journals. He has mentored scores of students and currently works as a senior scientist with Novartis, a pharmaceutical company.
