Master of Science in Public Health

The MPH degree is designed to be an interdisciplinary graduate, professional degree in public health. The MPH Program provides opportunities for students to obtain broad knowledge and basic skills in the core areas of public health. Students acquire proficiency in one or more specialized areas through advanced coursework, and gain experience in applying advanced knowledge to the solution of actual health problems in community settings during internship training. The MPH Program offers a program in which students acquire a sound academic background for competent practice in the field of public health. Students are able to obtain the MPH degree in either Health Behavior and Health Promotion or Public Health Policy and Management concentrations.

This program can be completed in two years for full-time students taking classes in the Spring, Summer and Fall semesters, however; students are allowed to go above two years but cannot exceed three years. Students are required to complete at least 36 credit hours selected from a list of core, required, and elective courses offered. Students may also receive credits for research work, if this work is of high scientific quality (i.e. in principle publishable) and is not related to the thesis work of the student.
